Tier Settings

Introduction

  • Members are eligible for loyalty tiers based on various criteria such as available points, earned points, spend amount in a period, etc. In practical use scenarios, businesses can structure tiers so that members can earn their tiers within a certain time period and then remain on that tier for a certain time period.
  • With the help of the Tier Period Settings, the loyalty members can earn/upgrade/downgrade their tiers for a certain, fixed amount of time and then the tier would be maintained for another predefined period.
  • These settings are meant to control the liability and allow the members to avail the tier benefit for a certain, fixed amount of time.

Navigation: Products > Select Your Template > Select Template

Select the appropriate template, and click the View icon from the Action tab as shown in the following image.

Capabilities

This feature enables the administrator to set up a Tier Upgrade Period and Tier Maintain Period.

Configuration Settings

Set the Tier Limit Setting switch ON to apply the tier limit setting.

Set the Tier Period switch ON to view the Tier Upgrade and Tier Maintain Period settings.

Tier Upgrade Period

  • The period where the loyalty member is upgraded/downgraded to particular tiers based on the earned points and spend value.
  • In this period, a member’s tier type is upgraded/downgraded based on activity. 

Tier Downgrade in Upgrade Period

  • If the switch is OFF, the tier will not be downgraded in the upgrade period. This can arise due to the return of the spend, or in the case of hierarchy management, if the child leaves the group.
  • If the switch is ON, the tier will be downgraded for such scenarios.

Tier Maintain Period

  • Tier Maintain Period is the time frame where the allotted member tier from the previous period would remain constant. A tier can upgrade instantly based on activities.
  • At the end of the Tier Maintain Period, a Cron will check for the update and complete the upgrade/downgrade of the tier.
  • The selection of the Tier Maintain Period is dependent on the selection of the Tier Upgrade Period. For example, if Tier Upgrade Period is selected as Calendar, then Tier Maintain Period would be Calendar and will not be changeable.

Scenario 1:

  1. Tier Upgrade Period: 1 Calendar Year
  2. Tier Downgrade in Upgrade Period: ON
  3. Tier Maintain Period: 1 Calendar Year

Consider Opt-in Date: January 20, 2021

Tier Upgrade Period: From January 20, 2021 to December 31, 2021

Depending on the transactions, the member will be:

  • Upgraded based on the earned points or amount spent
  • Downgraded based on the spent amount returned
  • Upgraded to a higher tier immediately as per the tier configuration

Assume in this period, the member reaches Tier Level 2:

Tier Maintain Period: From January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022

Tier Level 2 achieved by the member will be maintained. Meaning, even if the member does not perform any transaction, they will still remain on Level 2.

Scenario 2:

  1. Tier Upgrade Period: 1 Anniversary Year
  2. Tier Downgrade in Upgrade Period: OFF
  3. Tier Maintain Period: 2 Anniversary Years

Consider Opt-in Date: January 20, 2021

Tier Upgrade period: From January 20, 2021 to January 20, 2022

Depending on the transactions, the member will be:

  • Upgraded based on the earned points or amount spent
  • Upgraded to a higher tier immediately as per the tier configuration
  • Not downgraded as the switch is OFF

Assume in this period, the member reaches Tier Level 2.

Tier Maintain Period: From January 20, 2022 to January 20, 2024

Tier Level 2 achieved by the member and will be maintained. Meaning, even if the member does not perform any transaction in these two years, they will still remain on Level 2.

On January 20, 2024, the transaction will be checked for the last two years, and accordingly, the tier will be assigned to the member.
