Multi Point Bucket (MPB)

Summary

The Multi Point Bucket feature allows you to categorize the points that your members earn based on the source or type of activity that generated those points. These point categories are referred to as buckets. This approach allows you to accumulate and manage diverse types of loyalty currency within a single program. The Multi Point Bucket functionality is enabled in the super admin site. From the super admin site, you can create and name up to four additional point buckets for the loyalty program. This allows for a more flexible and personalized point accumulation process.

Points are calculated and added to the configured buckets based on the activities or criteria that are being tracked. For example, Kilometers, Miles, or Night Stays as types of buckets. These are the categories in which points are tracked. Members can earn points in these categories (buckets) based on their activities or accomplishments.

MPB is used for various conditions in various modules:

Configuration

The Multi Point Bucket functionality is enabled in the super admin site. From the super admin site, you can create and name up to four additional point buckets for the loyalty program.

For Example, the Multi Point Bucket functionality has been enabled in the super admin site. An additional point bucket, called Status Points has been created, giving members access to earn a second category of points for their loyalty actions or achievements.

Actions

Navigation: Product > Action > Action Rules > Multiple Bucket

Once the Multi Point Bucket functionality has been enabled for the program, a Multiple Bucket page will appear when configuring action rules for the loyalty program. Here you can establish what loyalty actions will earn members points in the additional point buckets that have been established in the program.

In this example, the Multi Point Bucket functionality has been enabled in the super admin site. An additional point bucket, called Status Points has been created, giving members access to earn a second category of points for their loyalty actions or achievements.

  1. Points: Determine the number of points that can be earned towards the additional point bucket for completing this action.
  2. Bonus Ratio: If you would like members to earn more points in this additional point bucket for completing this action you can add a Bonus Ratio. This will be a multiplier added to the additional bucket points members can earn for this action.
  3. Maximum Point Limit: If you would like to limit the number of additional bucket points a member can earn monthly for completing this action you will enter the maximum number of points in this field. This helps prevent excessive accumulation of points and ensures fairness in the rewards program.
  4. Points Expiration: Determine when you would like the additional bucket points earned for this action to expire. You have the option of Rolling or Calendar.
    • Rolling: Points expire after a set number of days from the date the points were earned.
    • Calendar: Points expire within a Week, Month, or Year from the day the points were earned.

Product Catalog Management (PCM)

If multiple point buckets are leveraged within a program, members can earn points towards those additional buckets by purchasing specific products. This can be configured when adding products in the Product Catalog Management (PCM) dashboard.

When adding a product to the Product Catalog you can determine if members will earn points towards the additional point bucket for purchasing the product. They can earn these points as flat points (a set number of points) and/or earn a point ratio.

For members to earn flat points towards the additional point bucket you will check the box next to the name of the additional bucket under Flat Points and enter the number of points you would like members to earn in the additional bucket in the field.

If you would like members to earn a point ratio towards the additional bucket, you will enter the ratio in the field with the name of the additional bucket under Points Ratio.

Tiers

If multiple point buckets are leveraged within a program, clients can include these additional buckets in the milestones needed for members to achieve tier status. This can be configured when adding a tier in the Tiers dashboard.

Programs that leverage multiple point buckets can enable thresholds for each point bucket when configuring Tier Milestones that members must meet to achieve the tier. Let’s look at an example below.

Example: The Multi Point Bucket functionality has been enabled in the super admin site. An additional point bucket, called Status Points has been created, giving members access to earn a second category of points for their loyalty actions or achievements.

Tier Threshold for Additional Bucket:

The additional tier threshold (additional point bucket), called the Status Points Tier Threshold appears within the Tier Milestones tab since the additional point bucket has been configured in the super admin site.

The loyalty point requirement in the Threshold field is set to 500 points and the requirement for Status Points (additional bucket) is set to 100 points. The member must earn at least 500 points and 100 Status Points to achieve the tier.

If the member earns 500 loyalty points, even if the Threshold is set to 500, the member's tier is not promoted until they meet the Status Points Tier Threshold.

If the member earns 100 status points, even if the Status Points Tier Threshold is set to 100, the member's tier is not promoted until they meet the loyalty point Threshold.

If the member earns 100 status points and 500 loyalty points the member has met the threshold for both point buckets and will be promoted into the tier.

Rewards

If multiple point buckets are leveraged within a program, members can earn points towards the additional point bucket(s) as a reward. This can be configured when adding a reward through the Rewards dashboard.

Points: In this field, the administrator can assign how many points members can earn in the additional point bucket for this reward.

Campaigns

If multiple point buckets are leveraged within a program, members can earn points towards those additional buckets as a campaign benefit. This can be configured when adding a campaign through the Campaigns dashboard.

Tier - Status Points: In this example, you can enter the number of Status Points a member would earn as part of the campaign benefit when they have met all campaign milestones. These status points will count towards reaching tier milestones that must be achieved to be promoted into the next tier in the loyalty program.

Reports

The available points for members are displayed in various columns in various reports and include loyalty points as well as additional bucket points that have been established in the program.

In the example above, the Multi Point Bucket functionality has been enabled in the super admin site. An additional point bucket, called Action Miles has been created, giving members access to earn a second category of points for their loyalty actions or achievements.

  • All Interaction Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Points column in the All Interaction Report (as shown above).
  • Tier Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Current Points and Points to Next Tier columns in the Tier Report.
  • Liability Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Lifetime Points, Earned Points, and Current Balance columns in the Tier Report.
  • Order Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Points Awarded column in the Order Report.
  • Points Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Lifetime Points, Earned Points, and Current Balance columns in Points Reports.
  • Manual Adjustment Report: The available loyalty points and additional bucket points for the members are displayed in the Points column in the Manual Adjustment Report.
  • Accrual Redemption Report: The available points in additional point buckets for the member are displayed in the Multi Point Bucket tab in the Accrual Redemption Report. For more information on the MPB report tab refer to the MPB Report.
